Sept 23-25 Scale Masters - Laurel, MDClasses:
The classes will be a little different for 2011. D,E and F hydro will run for
District points under Open Nitro Hydro just like we started doing a
number of years back with the nitro monos. Clubs can still offer separate
classes if they choose to but if a racer runs more than one class he must
designate which boat is his Open Nitro points boat at sign up before any racing.
Open Cat has been dropped, B Stock o/b Tunnel and RTR have
been added as a jacket class. Open FE Mono and Open FE Hydro were
added as non jacket classes for this year if the minimum boat count is made (at
least 3 entries per class prior to the race) they will run with the only
restriction being a max. of 8S and of course be legal FE hulls.
Open o/b Tunnel was added as another non points class and FE up to Q
power will be allowed to run in that class. 1/8th Scale FE will be
offered by host clubs if they choose to on a race by race basis also with a
three boat minimum to run, they must meet IMPBA 1/8 scale FE rules.
IMPBA Membership:
ALL RACERS MUST check in with the race officials and SHOW PROOF OF IMPBA MEMBERSHIP, or membership in an alternate association and payment of the appropriate fee, BEFORE RUNNING ANY BOATS. This applies not only to district races, but to ALL club boating activities at sanctioned ponds.Points
Points from each race will count toward an individual's high points. Points are awarded to the individual racer based on their final position at a race (400 for first, 300 for second, etc). Only places one through nine receive points. Minimum
boat count:
Results at a district race will only be counted for high points if the class has at least 3 boats that start at least one heat at that race. In addition, a minimum of 15 boats total must run by the end of the season. Note that each club is free to add additional non-high points classes as they see fit.2.4
GHZ radios:
All 2.4 transmitters will have a ¾” or wider bright yellow marking tape or band that can be seen easily by the CD while driver is holding the transmitter. Suggested placings are around radio base or antenna. Properly marked 2.4 transmitters do not need to put in the radio impound for the 2009 season.Alternate
frequencies:
Drivers must have alternate frequencies with them at all times at sanctioned races. Should combining heat(s) or run-offs require frequency changes, driver with high points has choice (for run offs driver with best placings has choice i.e.- 2 firsts vs. 1 first). Any person who needs to change due to combining heats or run-offs and does not will receive zero (0) points for any heat or forfeit run-off for not being able to change. Any driver using 2.4 spread spectrum is obviously exempt from this rule.Five buoy turns

Starting in 2009, courses for D12 high points races will use five buoy turns for district races. At each end of the course, there will be five equally spaced buoys instead of three. The two extra buoys will give drivers additional visual help in following a rounded course through the turns and should help reduce the squaring off of turns that has been observed. Click on the diagram at the right for a visual example.
Safety:
Racers using gasoline engines should have a fire extinguisher in their pit area. They also should know the location of the nearest extinguisher when in the hot pits.
No running engines outside the hot pits.
Only IMPBA members are permitted in the hot pits. Racers are also requested to not congregate in the hot pits unless they are running or pitting for an upcoming heat.Courtesy:
Races are family events, run by volunteers. Conduct yourself in a manner that's appropriate for a family oriented event.
Once "no launch" has sounded, there should be no running of engines in the hot pits until the end of the race. The racers need to be able to hear their own engines and instructions from their pit person and the CD.
