The 2008 high points series is now history. Following is a table showing the top 3 places for each class. You can see the final points total on the high points pages. I can say personally that the best part of attending all of the high points races this year was that I got to see old friends and make new ones. At the end of the day, the people are what it's all about. I hope everyone else has enjoyed the season and the web site updates. I look forward to seeing you all next year.

Chesapeake

The innagural Chesapeake Bay gas clash was held July 25-27 in Queenstown, MD. Racers from all over the country were in attendance. You can see some pictures here

The Capitol club just finished their first district race at their
new pond in Centreville, Va.
Congrats to the club members for putting on a great
event! A great time was had by all who attended in spite of
mother nature's attempts to spoil our fun. Friday and
Saturday saw typical hot, muggy weather capped off
with some late afternoon rain on Saturday.
The weather on Sunday started
out cooler and with much less humidity, but then
the wind hit. Racing changed from going fast to just
surviving as drivers tried to figure out how to deal with
whitecaps.
The big winner for the weekend was Ivan Place with 5 firsts!
The only perfect score for the weekend was from Christen Heffner in
novice. Based on how she's been doing this season, we're all
in trouble when she moves into some other classes.
High points
series
With three high points races complete and only two left, some
racers are establishing a dominant, but not insurmountable,
lead. At the same time, many classes are very tight at the
top, often with less than 100 points separating the top several
positions. The final two races will prove to be extremely
important for those in the hunt for one of the coveted jackets.
The next race will be the Chesapeake Bay Gas Clash July 25-27,
while the next high points race will be August 22-24 in Chesapeake,
VA.
Other news
Chuck Gardiner, AKA Piper Chuck, has taken over as webmaster so
Scott Norris can focus on his business. Thanks to Scott for
getting the D12 web site up and going. If you have pictures or news
you want to share with the district, send them to Chuck.
Chuck has also assumed
the role of District 12 Scale Director from Tim Clark to allow Tim
some space in his life style to raise his children. Thanks Tim for
your efforts.
IMPBA District 12 is proud to announce a brand new event- The 1st Annual 2008 Chesapeake Bay Gas Clash! The race is being held at the Delmarva Model Boaters Club lake located on Cherry Lane in Queenstown Maryland right across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Maryland's eastern shore. This is a state of the art facility with ample parking, elevated drivers stand and an easy access boat launching pad. There are plenty of things besides boat racing to do in the area with great restaurants and dockside bars 10 minutes up the road in Kent Narrows, well known for it’s “night life”. The Delmarva club will be hosting a crab feast Saturday night under the lights featuring steamed Maryland blue crabs fresh from the Chesapeake Bay! Be sure to mark your calendars for this 3 day racing event July 25, 26, and 27th as this is quickly shaping up to be fantastic with sponsors already on board like Aeromarine Laminates, Jackrabbit Racing, Insane Boats, CC Racing Engines, Butch The Boatman Gas RC Products and Mastons R/C Marine just to name a few. Awesome Gold Cup Trophies for first through third place in all 10 classes! Also, a Full Mod Zenoah G260 from Carlo @ CC Racing Engines for the weekends high points winner! Don't miss this one!!
New District Rules-
A- ¾” or wider bright yellow marking tape or band
on all 2.4
transmitters that can be seen easily by the CD while driver is
holding the transmitter. Suggested placings are around radio base or
antenna.
B- All District points race fees will be calculated and paid
by check at
the conclusion of each race
C- Drivers must have alternate frequencies with them
at all times
at sanctioned races. Should combining heat(s) or run-offs require frequency
changes, driver with high points has choice (for run offs driver with best
placings has choice i.e.- 2 firsts vs. 1 first). Any person who needs to change
due to combining heats or run-offs and does not will receive zero
(0) points for any heat or forfeit run-off for not being able to change. Any
driver using 2.4 spread spectrum is obviously exempt from this rule.

Also results at each district race will only be counted for high points
if the class has at least 4 boats that make at least one heat at that race.
In addition, a minimum of 20 boats total must run by the end of the season. Note
that each club is free to add additional non-high points classes as they see
fit.
Each club should provide a list of frequencies being used by its members. This
list can be compiled at the district level and added to the district web site to
help race organizers anticipate frequency problems. It will also be useful in
helping new club members pick a frequency.
District races should start as early as practical and be run as efficiently as
possible. Late starts and long delays between heats reduce the amount of racing.
The members of a club that is running a district race should remember that their
first priority is to their guests from out of town, not their own district
points. When you attend other club's races, they will do their best to return
the hospitality you extended to them.
